Jesslyn Popwell, M.S., M.A.

Teacher

Jesslyn Popwell brings more than 15 years of experience in education to her role as a Teacher at New Focus Academy, with a career-long focus on special education, inclusive instruction, and literacy development. Her experience spans K-12 classrooms and higher education, including roles as a Special Education Teacher, First Grade Teacher, and Career and Technical Education Teacher, giving her a broad and adaptable skill set for supporting diverse learners.

Jesslyn has extensive experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), leading eligibility meetings, and designing behavioral supports and social-emotional learning interventions. She has also trained fellow educators on IEP integration and data-driven progress monitoring, and has built and led full academic programs, including a nine-course Career and Technical Education curriculum aligned to college and career readiness standards. Her foundation in the Science of Reading and structured literacy strategies supports her work helping students strengthen their reading, writing, and communication skills.

Jesslyn holds a Graduate Certificate in Special Education Teaching from Weber State University, a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of the Rockies (now University of Arizona Global Campus), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from the University of Utah. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Analytics from Capella University. Jesslyn holds an active Utah Educator License and brings a creative, resourceful approach to helping neurodiverse learners build confidence and academic skills.
