Kade Wood
Recreational Therapist
Kade Wood graduated with a degree in Recreation Therapy from Brigham Young University-Idaho and is currently in Graduate school pursuing a Masters in Social Work. He has previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and was the President of the recreational therapy association as an undergrad where he started wheelchair basketball tournaments that raised awareness for adaptive recreation. Kade is currently the Recreational Therapist at New Focus Academy.
As the Recreational Therapist, Kade works with the students to facilitate recreational therapy groups four times a week and creates goal and outcome-based activities to help grow the students’ skill sets.
Kade has a deep rooted passion for the outdoors and finds that time spent in nature can be extremely therapeutic. This is the same passion that led him to become a Recreational Therapist.
“ Recreational activities can also provide us with opportunities to challenge ourselves and as we do so we can little by little gain that self confidence that comes from accomplishing something difficult. My desire to help and impact others is my biggest motivation. I have seen many in my life that have had to face challenges alone and without the necessary skills to overcome them. I wanted to find a way to help equip others with the knowledge and skills to face any challenge in life.”
Kade is the fun Uncle to 12 nieces and nephews and loves camping, sports, hiking, and relaxing in his hammock. He hopes to develop and open a Nationwide experiential education program in the future.
